Cable problems are now reported to Resnet

It seems that UCI Housing tries to avoid dealing with irate residents complaining about Cable outages.
The problem reporting page now refers to Resident Networking for reporting problems.
This means that the service hours got worse. Instead of 8am to 5pm, Resnet is available from 10am to 6pm. And of course, like housing, they are not available on weekends.
Furthermore, my experience with Resnet shows that they are not overly good managing the Internet connectivity. For example, they changed the subnet for Palo Verde without informing people, which resulted in me losing data (but that's probably a topic for yet another blog...)
Anyway, I have left a voice mail with them complaining about the current channel freezes (CBS, GSN, CourtTV, see here.)

As of 7:17pm AMCTV is frozen, too.

Yup. Saw that.
I talked to Ted Roberge from Resnet today, and he was surprised that the problems webpage lists Resnet as contact point. Talk about lack of coordination ;)
Anyway, he said he wanted to talk to Kevin Ansel to change that back to what it was before.
Resnet obviously doesn’t want to have anything to do with the Cable fiasco :)

This blog tries to capture all the gripes about UCI Resident Networking (Resnet) and the switch to UCI-managed Cable TV in on-campus housing.
